We are really on the fence about bringing the kids with us. It will cost so much more if we do, and that's a really big issue for us. Yet, they have been planning on coming (the 2 teens) and are really looking forward to it. I can't even imagine leaving little Alex at home all that time. He is almost 3, but not quite 'typical'. He doesn't speak in intelligible words, but I'm like his 'de-coder' and I understand ALL of his ways and needs.
Yet, our facilitator recommends we leave him home. I just don't know. Yes, we have the tickets, but for the most part they are refundable. I just cannot believe the cost of adoption! There are so many beautiful children I would LOVE to go and rescue from a terrible life, but how? I really have to work on the faith thing, never have been very good at that :)
some days you want pecans, some days you want walnuts...and some days you just get stuck with peanuts.
are you doing two trips? can one teen go each time? there is a lot of sitting around and waiting. is your three year old going to tolerate sitting in a car for HOURS on end? I am not exaggerating when I say hours. just sitting. waiting. not driving. I wouldnt have wanted to bring any of my youngers with and even the preteen while she got a lot out of our walks and visits probably didnt have a great time sitting and waiting for things.
ReplyDeleteWe are bringing our 15 yr old only. But we plan on visiting the orphanage where she came from and that is one reason she will come with us. I think it would be to boring for any of the younger ones to come with, even the 12 yr old. Thats one reason she said she didnt want to come. And the fact she said she couldnt handle going to the orphanage every day. And I know what you mean about wanting to take some more kids home. I see the faces of waiting kids in the baby house that Dania and Josh are in looking for love and a home and I dont know how I will be able to leave them all behind.......I hate that!!!! Are you doing one or two trips?
ReplyDeleteOne trip- Rich will leave after court, I will stay. So I would like to bring my 18 yr old son to stay with me. Yes, Alex is used to sitting in cars for long periods of time, remember, we drive to florida and only stop for bathroom breaks :)
